I really love this place and wish they were in Florida near me. I ordered the 1/2 pork and 1/2 chicken burrito and it was excellent. In fact, I ordered an extra flour shell HOT off the grill as a 95c side order as they are the BEST I have ever had.

Came up to park city for the evening. Decided to eat at cafe rio. Ate at 830 and they said they were out of everything when they still had food. The staff was very rude. They all were hanging out not doing anything. They are suppose to be open til 10 and closed at 845. They turned away at least 15 costumers. Just so they could close early and go home. This location is by far worst cafe rio I've ever been to. I'm never going back.

I am a fan of the Cafe Rio chain. This location is the exception. The food was not prepared well and the manager slopped pico on my burrito when I asked him not to. When I asked for it to be removed he got upset and was very unprofessional. The owners of the franchise should take a look at this location because it makes the brand look bad.

I had a burrito. It was huge. I ate about a third. Seriously, if you can finish one if these, you're just being a pig. Special note...the soda machine spits out crushed ice. I think that's rare.

Terrible service. My burrito was not even wrapped and when I went to ask for an extra tortilla (to wrap it myself), the manager snatched it from my hand and angrily remade it with much less than I had asked for. Definitely not going again.

Let's start by saying I'm never coming back to this location. The shift leader, which I didn't catch her name. She was very rude, not only to myself but also a new hire that was trying to help us as best as he could. Also, as I was eating I saw many customers being turned away as they were told they were all out of food at 815 when they close at 10.

I'm a regular at Cafe Rio because they are located near my condo. The food is fresh but let's face it, it's bland as heck! I NEVER use hot sauce on my food anywhere except here. The chicken might be all white meat, but it tastes like cardboard. I've come to the conclusion that folks in Utah (where Cafe Rio is based) are afraid of spices. Thankfully this place has a hot sauce wall by the soda fountain so you can spice up your food. You'll see all the employees dousing their food with sauces when they are taking their breaks. A lot of my Mormon friends don't like this place because their pork is marinated with Coca-Cola (just an FYI in case this matters to you). The drink selection is good (they have Diet Dr. Pepper, Coke Zero AND Vanilla Coke on tap, score)! There's a small outdoor seating area that I recommend since it gets LOUD inside. I mean SUPER LOUD. The restaurant has concrete floors that echo every last thing. The tables are bolted down and are way too close together so when the dining room is full, you will be pressed back to back with some stranger. This place gets really crowded, especially at lunch time. Be prepared to wait in a 20 minute (or longer) line to order at certain times. The busier the place is, the more harried and unfriendly the employees become. I also think the employees here can be downright RUDE. I've been yelled at, had eyes rolled at me, been told to "hurry up," etc. Not everyone who works here is a jerk, but watch out. I've even TWICE left the line in tears and gave up on my order. Something needs to be done with employee training. Watch out for the guys making burritos who don't speak English well -- they are the worst! To be fair, other times I've been greeted with a smile and felt very welcome. But those positive experiences are rare. The staff and even the manager seems to relish being argumentative with customers. I would love it if Cafe Rio would add a bare or naked burrito option to their menu. I'm a low carb eater and it's like pulling teeth to try to order something with no tortilla and no rice! It shouldn't be that hard! And each time I get my little dish of chicken, steak, with melted cheese and salsa, I'm charged a different price. I've paid anywhere from $4 up to $12 for my food. Ridiculous. And they are super jerky about giving you a frequent diner stamp when you get a "bare" burrito. Seriously? I'm eating a meal just like everyone else! Just because I don't want your carbohydrate-laden tortillas or rice doesn't mean I shouldn't get a punch on my card! Now that I'm writing this review, I don't even know why I continue to go to this place. It just annoys the heck out of me!

Do not order online for this location. I ordered online for my parents and I, and was given a pickup time of about 15 minutes after I place the order. Wonderful. I got there a little after the given time, maybe 5 minutes late. And they hadn't even started on it. There was another guy waiting for his pickup as well that he had placed online, also hadn't been started. After he had been waiting, they came out and told him they were out of one of his items. He held it together and got something else, but I could see steam coming from his ears. After about another 10 or so minutes, I inquired as it if we were getting close on my order. I am usually pretty patient, but not when I could have just gone through the assembly line twice by then to place my order. The girl working the register was sincere and apologetic, hence, the two stars, but it was not a great experience with the online ordering and watching people who arrived after me order there and be on their way long before I was out the door. No bueno.

Timing is everything--after having gone to Cafe Rio for about a dozen lunches, it still amazes how on one random wednesday the joint will be packed to the gills and on another it will be almost empty. Usually go with the daily special because it is a random menu item at a discount and everything is consistently good. Most recent visit had the daily special which was a Chile Relleno. The traditional poblano green pepper had a fried egg batter shell around it that lent an asian-fusion feel; not quite tempura. The filling inside was shredded pork and seeds...spicy and wet. The pork almost tasted like chicken. The inedible twig cap of the pepper was an undocumented feature. The surrounding sauce was nothing but sweet. The lettuce, black beans (other choice was pinto), tortilla and rice on the side were all tasty. The tortillas are literally made in front of you. Fresh and delicious! Free cheese quesadilla with a strawberry on the side available for kids. A small sample revealed that these were salt-bombs; must be the cheese? The salads are laced with thin-strip crunchy salty tortilla chips by default unless you ask otherwise. The steak tacos are pitch perfect with strips of quality steak and lots of cilantro. The colorful trays always smell like dirty dish water. always! The silver foil pans that the food is served in makes for easy togo containers for leftovers. And there are always leftovers. One time it was fun to watch the way guacamole was made. This may be a trade secret: the staff member brought out a batch of straight-up mashed avocado and carefully ladled in three scoops of the red salsa and then stirred it all together. Voila! Cafe Rio is basically Chipotle but with fresher ingredients; plus everything is a little more sweet and a lot saucier!

Disclaimer: I actually really like Cafe Rio. It's in my regular rotation of restaurants to go to. This location, however, won't be seeing my business again. First of all, the line staff was unfriendly and acted like it was a huge bother to do things like take my order (which was in no way complicated). The whole time I was in line, I felt like a nuisance. Secondly, when it came time to pay, the cashier refused to honor the free meal I had on my card. My fiance and I paid separately, and he put the two meals he had on my card, making it ten. That should have been a free meal for me (I was paying for my friend too, so it would have helped), but the cashier didn't honor it. He counted the stamps, handed the card back to me, and rang me up for two meals. My fiance asked about it, and he just smiled at him. What the heck? As we were with friends we haven't seen since December, I decided not to complain to the manager about it and bring drama into our evening, but seriously? I felt swindled by this guy, and it definitely doesn't give me any incentive to go there again. If you really want to go to Cafe Rio, and have the ability to, go to the 3300 South location located about 20 minutes west of Park City in Salt Lake. This one is definitely not worth it, and I wish we had chosen to go pretty much anywhere else in Park City tonight.

This place is a scam! Rice and bean meal is what you get no matter what you order. Steak burrito was rice and beans with little steak. Chicken salad was lettuce rice and beans teased with chicken. Extra for sour cream, guac, or chips. $18 for lunch and didn't get what is expected. Small taco was a joke for $4. Rip off for what you don't get. They are spreading fast because of popularity like in high school. I can get better food at a real Mexican food resaurant for the same or less. At least I will get the meat I ordered that the title of the item describes. Steak burrito, chicken salad, pork taco actually should have this in the them, not beans and rice. That's a side item at a restaurant. Bring back the "where's the beef lady"

Very salty beans and the tortillas were barely edible. The chicken was fine and the vegetables looked fresh but had little taste. Lastly, the cilantro had the steams left on. This establishment was recommended as the go to place for local Mexican.... The service was fast and friendly.

I'm still having a hard time figuring out why everyone flocks to Cafe Rio's all over Utah. We're huge Bajio fans, but decided to diversify tonight and hit Rio. All in all, it was pretty good - but we'll still take LC and Bajio over Rio. It seems to take longer than it should with a reasonably limited menu and decisions to make during the ordering process. There were about 10-15 people ahead of us and it was a good 10 minutes to get to the counter. Absolutely recommend the flour tortillas. I had the pork burrito and my wife had the salad with grilled chicken. Everything was fantastic. As noted by other reviewers, it was all pretty Americanized Mexican. And as good as the pork burrito was, I would still prefer Bajio. I also think you get a lot more for your money at both Bajio and LC. There's a ton of dining choices within 100 feet of this location with Maxwell's, Good Thymes, Kneaders, Bajio and more. Enjoy

Yes - a Cafe Rio in Park City. This is a real good place for a "quick" lunch. Most meals are a bit on the sweet side, and I would recommend the Pork Salad - with light chips. The chili con caso chip dip is awesome! I'd give RIO 4 stars but it is a bit too far off traditional Mexican food to rate those. With how sweet everything is - it seems like Mormon style Mexican food. Very friendly staff and good hours!

Cafe Rio is like Crack!! Can't get enough of there pork burritos. Went 3 times during Sundance.

Great for a quick inexpensive meal. Straight forward fresh Mexican food. They make their own tortillas, yum! Love their chicken tacos with pico de gallo and guac with black beans on the side. Simple and fresh!

As great as all the other Cafe Rio's I've been to. I always get the enchilada style pork burrito with black beans and hot sauce. So far, it has never disappointed.

*would be zero stars but unfortunately it's not an option on this app. 9:30 PM: I enter my local Park City Cafe Rio. I was already expecting glares from the employees for coming in before closing time, but I remember that it's Saturday and they're open until eleven. 9:31 PM: Employees glare at me anyways. 9:31: I watch the guy prepare my enchilada. He carefully seasons my corn tortillas with pork, ensuring not to overdo it, and by overdo it we of course mean give me anything more than the amount defined during the Cafe Rio-mandated meat portion training seminar that each new employee is required to attend before taking their place behind the counter. All other employee training occurs on an "if we have time" basis. 9:32 PM: I reach the register. I am politely told by the cashier that I will be paying $9.00 for the metal tin of beige slop sitting between us on the counter. She did not offer me a punch card, shit. How am I supposed to redeem my free meal after $100+ more dollars worth of Cafe Rio? 9:37 PM: I leave the restaurant with an overwhelming feeling of dread and loss of faith in the human race. So, I just want to say, I keep coming back here thinking that because Cafe Rio is such a well known and established chain, maybe their restaurants have some mandate to deliver quality food and service. I cannot adequately express in writing just how much I regret coming back to Cafe Rio after almost a month of abstinence. My experience was so dreadful that I was inspired to write this review and tell any soul reading this never to return to Cafe Rio again. As a consumer, I almost want to blame myself for being so incompetent to think that somehow this now behemoth of a Mexican restaurant chain has any interest in my personal satisfaction as a customer. After so many regretful experiences here one would think that I would have the good sense never to return. But I have ultimately concluded that this is, in fact, entirely Cafe Rio's fault, especially considering the reality that good, even great alternatives to Cafe Rio do exist, even in Park City (Alberto's, El Chubasco, even Billy Blanco's) who are far more committed to a positive holistic experience, both in terms of food quality as well as customer service. The Park City community and the entire population of Utah has fallen victim to a pseudo-Mexican restaurant chain that has grown so astronomically too-large for the competency level of its management (think Apple) and has no idea what to do other than expand, expand, expand. Somewhere along the line, we were deceived into thinking that Cafe Rio food was actually good, and maybe it was good at a time- perhaps on a nice summer's day back in 2009, when the paint on the walls of the newly installed Cafe Rio were still wet with the quotes of Utah business magazines touting that they would "sell their soul for a pork salad." But those days are gone. The era is over. Free yourselves, do it for your health, do it for your wallet, do it for your family, your kids, your loved ones, do it for humanity. Never again. #caferioneveragain2k15

I would give it no stars. It's 9:25pm 7/24/15. Sign on door shows open till 11:00pm. They kicked us out and locked the doors on my hungry kids. Short girl with brown shirt said we ran out of food and people. Yet let two women in behind us as we walked away. We are from Southern California on vacation. No the service we expected here. Could have said sorry for inconvenience or something but she was so rude she wanted us out. Not trying this place again.

My first time to eat at a Cafe Rio and I have to say I really like it. The sweet pulled pork burrito was so tasty. As cafeteria style burrito places go, it is a good choice. It is a bit pricey for what you get so wouldn't be a regular stop, but worth it every once in awhile.

Cafe rio is a good alternative to fast food. I order gluten free dairy free with corn tortillas and it is satisfying. My favorite is the tostada salad it's a cheaper salad and no huge flour tortilla to avoid. I can finish it and not feel like a pig. I love the bee sting mango hot sauce and use it as my dressing. I really wish they made brown rice and served coffee, then they would get all five stars. The stamps are a nice bonus so are the daily specials. Make sure you try tamale Thursday, great tasting. I also order half and half with the beans, a little taste treat mixing them. Sometimes the service is slow but I don't mind. Seating could be more comfy and the place is showing wear but It won't stop me from eating there.

The staff was very sweet and helpful, even if they weren't the most knowledgeable about their gluten free options. I personally love cafe rio tortillas, just not for breakfast, so only the hubby ate here today.

Cafe Rio is one of the best, the Sweet Barbarcao pork is the best. Sometimes the lines can get a little unmanageable, but the food is always worth it!

I am a big fan of this chain, but not this particular store. Extremely rude and poor service. No posted kids menu... when asked, we were given premade kids quesadilla's that my kids would not eat. We were not properly greeted, and we were rudely directed to hurry up when we were not making decisions fast enough for the man on the line that did not speak good english good enough for me to understand him. I do speak spanish, so the issue was his overall rudeness and getting upset because I did not understand his english or appreciate his attitude. I questioned his poor attitude, and he asked if I had anything else, and told me to move on please. I did alert a member of management. When I left this employee was still working on the line.

I've always been a fan of cafe rio and we stopped into this particular location on the way to midway. My girlfriend and I shared the pork salad with corn tortillas and the cilantro line dressing. Absolutely filled both of us up and tasted great too! We are both gluten and dairy free so it was easy to have the staff accommodate this for us. Enjoy!

Great place for lunch, but slightly pricey. Expect to wait about 5-10 minutes if anyone at all is in front of you. Great sauce options though. The burritos are unbelievable, and Cafe Rio is in a great little location that's easy to park your car at. If you've never been to the area and are out for skiing, I'd recommend it for lunch.

Really grub at reasonable prices. Love the grilled chicken burrito enchilada-style. It comes in a sweet aluminum tray that is great for reheating at home, because you won't finish it! This is a nice mellow place to relax a little after a day on the slopes. The chips are good but the salsa selection is so-so - wish there were more to choose from. Kid friendly. You order in line and it's done by the time you pay. Lots of seating but no table service.

We're new to Park City and so glad to find some good mexican! There isn't a taco shop on every corner like we're used to so Cafe Rio was a welcome find. Although we had to pile on the hot sauce as we like it spicy and everything I've had here is MILD, it is all fresh, good quality food. We'll be back!

Another horrible visit to cafe rio. I guess it's time to stop branching outside of St George's location. Not to busy of day, so, the customer service should be at least decent. It was horrible!! There was rotten lettuce and cilantro. It was a "chore" for them to have to remove it and put new on. I thought we were the customers and are paying for the food. Smile please!!

The food is good and service is too unless you have Alex help you. He is not there to take care of your needs and is a real jerk! I went there tonight and tried to get a Pork Burrito with a salad. Alex always gives me a hard time and makes me feel like I'm begging. My wife and I eat there enough that we had a punch card for a free meal. He tried to charge me $3 more for what i don't know and was very inflexible.. I wound up refusing the meal and they threw it away rather than trying to do the right thing. My wife likes to eat there and that is the only reason I go. from now on when Alex treats me this way I will refuse it and let them throw the meal away. This is not the first time Alex has been nasty.I have contacted Cafe rio in the past regarding This poor employee and they don't seem to care. I guess their motto is "Why do Good when you can do just good enough?".

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
